Guess who this is for?
I've spent the afternoon sewing up this little bed, for a new family member.
After trawling through several petshops in search of a bed that wasn't:
a) made with fake fur
b) covered in paw printed fabric
or
c) obscenely expensive
I finally gave up and made one myself. The pattern was made up, and so easy, really no instructions are necessary. The little wicker basket is from IKEA, and at less than $10, certainly was what I was after. I simply traced the base of the basket onto a sheet of paper and used this as my pattern, cutting the fabric out slightly larger to allow for seams. The two pieces of the base are sandwiched with a piece of wadding I had left over from another project, for a bit of extra warmth. The sides were made by measuring the base circumference, then making a tube that was then attached to the base mattress and stuffed with fibrefill.
There you go!

Great basket. When does your new family member arrive?
Our poor kitties have had to make do with hand me down items, a cat tree that you would love - it is covered in faux fur that is pale pink with brown paw prints. It is klassy! Their bed is a hand me down that the rabbit used to sleep in that is now topped in a cushion! Perhaps one day they will have a special home of their own, but probably not.
Oh, gorgeous. Love it. When you sew, you are fast! Can't wait to meet Little Bit tomorrow. I am off to make something now too.
