Yep.
More cuteness.
School lunch boxes can be a bit hit and miss in this joint. I just know in a weeks time I'll have had enough of the being organised habit and abandon school snacks to packetty crap again. But for now I'm happy to roll with it and turn out nice, nutritional meals for the school day (and don't be fooled for a second, I'm only doing this for the one kid...the other is too cool for school and wants his to be walking around food).
Pasta salads are a bit of a no-brainer here. What kid doesn't like pasta? Factor in noodles in the shape of teddy bears and you have a winning combo. The greenery on the side may or may not be touched, but it makes me happy to see it there. I'm hoping the novelty rabbit salad dressing might encourage lettuce consumption.
While it does seem like a bit of a small serve, it's intended for grazing and I also packed this:
Dried apricots, celery with cream cheese and pomegranate syrup and celery with peanut butter and mini oreos. At least one thing there will be eaten, and I'm pretty certain it won't be the celery.
I'd eat the celery...
Above is what I made for tomorrow's lunch. An inari sushi boat (admittedly shop bought), japanese coleslaw made by moi, babybel cheese with a quail egg mouse and homemade pork and chive Tsukune.
I'll be interested to see if the coleslaw is eaten. That tiny hint of onion might just make the whole thing a no-go zone. The bottle is filled with Kewpie mayonnaise. I love the sweetness of Kewpie mayo and showed great restraint in putting some in the bottle and not helping myself to a spoonful along the way.
Not another Bento, but last nights dinner. We grown ups blasted colds away with super spicy Belacan Kangkong, the kids stuck with a simple tuna mornay. It's actually loaded up with vegetables under that pastry octopus and they didn't even realise. These were made as single serves, the only issue being the heat of those plates and bowls.
Today is dog day. Off to the airport this afternoon to pick her up. While I have tried to explain to the cat in easy to understand terminology what is about to happen, I just don't think he gets it.
